Transgender rhinoplasty is a surgical process in which the transgender patient's nose is reshaped. This creates a more feminine or masculine appearance. The plastic surgeons combine surgical expertise and an artistic eye to create a nose shape that balances with the transgender individual's face and goals. The breadth, length and angle of an individual's nose have a gender distinctive difference. Every skilled surgeon might strike a physical and an aesthetic balance when shaping the nose, especially concerning other transition processes which have been done. The main motto is to activate individuals to present their gender with confidence.
The transgender person who chooses to have a transition from female to male might opt for having rhinoplasty for augmenting the shape of their nose. During the rhinoplasty process, a broader and larger nose is created for a more robust and masculine facial appearance. A person transitioning from male to female chooses the technique for the opposite reason.
Procedure
1. In female to male transitions, surgeons create a framework in the nose by using a bone graft, cartilage and implants to augment/masculinize the nose.
2. In male to female changes, the surgeons use fine dissolvable sutures that close the incisions after the complete rhinoplasty.
3. Same as in FTM, the incision is a closed approach to access the cartilage and bones, which shapes and cuts to reduce the breadth and length of the nasal structure.
Benefits
1. It reshapes the nose to a more feminine and softer appearance.
2. It fixes any previous injuries.
3. It can reduce the appearance of a bump on the nose.
4. It provides patients with confidence and comfortability in the skin.
5. It sculpts the nose tip, which enhances its feminine appearance.
6. It helps in reducing misgendering.
