Chin Augmentation

Chin augmentation or chin enhancement surgery, also called genioplasty, is a surgery directed at reshaping the chin. This surgery is achieved either through implants or through moving or reshaping of the jaw bones.

This surgery can be performed in the doctor's office, hospital or an outdoor clinic. The procedure may include taking X-Rays of the face and chin.

There are two types of Chin surgeries:

  1. Chin implants

This surgery is directed to perform under the projected chin. Typically small incisions are made inside the mouth or under the chin.

  2. Chin Reduction Surgery

This surgery is performed to make a prominent projected Chin. The excess bone is removed, and the chin is contoured to get the desired shape.

This surgery can be performed in the doctor's office, hospital or an outdoor clinic. The procedure may include taking X-Rays of the face and chin. This surgery patronizes the patient's confidence.

Procedure

  ➤ When the surgery involves implants, a cut is made either inside the mouth or under the chin.

  ➤ The cut creates a pocket in front of the chin bones and under the muscles.

  ➤ The implant is placed in this pocket and attached using stitches or screws. Stitches and bandage are applied.
