Upper Eyelids

Upper eyelift surgery, medically known as Upper Blepharoplasty, removes the folds of loose skin and bulges of protruding fat over the upper eyelids. This may result from the downward pull of gravity and the skin losing its elasticity due to age, eye cancer, or post-surgery. Since the skin loses its elasticity, fat and other tissues begin to accumulate in the loosened skin. This trait mainly runs in families or post-fat loss.

Procedure:

  • The medical optometrist will check your eye vision, and the plastic surgeon will assess your eyelids.

  • Local anesthesia is administered.

  • Incisions are made around the area to be operated.

  • Anticoagulation is administered to prevent the blood from clotting.

  • A Hemostatic is administered to control the bleeding resulting from anticoagulation.

  • The excess fat and tissues are either removed with a scalpel or lasers.

  • Oral coagulating factors (for blood clotting) are administered or injected, and the wounds are dressed.

Benefits:

  • It provides better ocular motility that means easier and better movement of eyeballs.

  • It leads to the lesser risk of cataract on aging.

  • It leads to an improved visual rehabilitation results.

  • It makes it convenient for the patients in wearing contact lenses.

  • It hugely reduces the stress on the cornea, which causes power stability.
